Ascension St. Joseph Hospital’s Geriatric Psychiatry Unit is a short term unit focusing on stabilizing older adult patients with an acute psychiatric diagnosis. This 25-bed locked unit has a max patient to nurse ratio of 6:1. Techs are also on the unit. What makes this unit different from other geri/senior psych facilities is the age range of 50 and older. The Behavioral Health department utilizes a panic button system and has a specialized behavioral health security team.
