Veterinary Technician - ER

BluePearl Pet Hospital in Peoria, AZ is seeking knowledgeable and skilled Veterinary Technicians to join our team. Veterinary Technician experience required. Position Emergency Veterinary Technician Work Schedule Day shift – Friday, Saturday, Sunday, 7 a.m. – 7 p.m. Mid shift – Sunday–Wednesday, 4 p.m.–2 a.m. Pay $21.00 – $30.00 per hour. This pay band is a starting point and is dependent on experience and advancement through the Kahuna leveling system. Competitive shift differential pay is offered for eligible nights and weekends. Shift differentials are based on a four‑hour minimum. Mon – Fri: 6 p.m. – 8 a.m. = $3.50 Shift Differential Sat & Sun: 6 p.m. – 8 a.m. = $5.00 Shift Differential Sat & Sun: 8 a.m. – 6 p.m. = $3.50 Shift Differential Responsibilities Induce, monitor and recover anesthesia in patients and use anesthesia/monitoring equipment. Triage emergency cases as they arrive at the hospital, including obtaining vitals such as temperature, heart rate, respiratory rate and blood pressure. Perform digital radiography using proper technique and positioning of patients. Have a complete understanding of normal ranges of patient vital signs, including heart and respiratory rate, temperature, blood pressure and oxygen saturation. Obtain and interpret blood pressure and other vital signs and alert the Veterinarian to changes and issues. Identify patients at risk for arrest and initiate CPR. Properly calculate medical math (including constant rate infusions) and administer medications via appropriate routes and duration. Be proficient at performing phlebotomy and placing intravenous catheters in all peripheral vessels. Place and maintain feeding tubes and central line catheters. Have a passion for mentoring and training other co‑workers. Have patience and empathy to address client concerns. Qualifications Veterinary Technician experience required. Strong knowledge of anesthesia, vitals, radiography, phlebotomy, intravenous techniques, feeding tubes and central lines. Ability to perform CPR and calculate medical math accurately. Proficiency in teaching and training others. Excellent client communication skills with patience and empathy.
