CAMEO Systems Engineer

**** Accurately handles incoming mail; Prepares daily paperwork and distributes in a timely manner.****

**** Utilizes neat legible handwriting.****

**** Utilizes resources appropriately avoiding wasteful practices.****

**** Maintains security and confidentiality of medical records.****

**** Complies with medical record maintenance to ensure timely dispensation of completed charts during each phase of business operations.****

**** Shares responsibilities of business office personnel. ****

**** Analyzes work area for potential cost-effective improvements.****

**** Completes dept/hospital required competencies as required. ****

**** Correctly schedules procedures to be performed, considering priorities and patient/equipment special needs.****

**** Identifies scheduling conflicts and adjusts as needed.****

**** Cross trained for medical records specialist and receptionist roles.****

**** Ensures review of prequalification in a timely manner and any unmet pre-surgical/pre-procedure requirements; obtains precertification number from physicians office if applicable.****

**** Keeps files up to date.****

**** Keeps departmental logs in a complete, accurate and neat manner.****

**** Collects data for performance improvement activities.****

**** Ability to supervise staff members, delegates as necessary.****

**** Maintains safety and security, and release of information. ****

**** Verifies all commercial insurance coverage, worker's compensation, accident insurance, state programs and determines responsibility if applicable. ****

**** Determines patient qualification of coverage by third party payer and informs financial counselor of patient or family member status. ****

**** Calls patient prior to date of surgery to counsel regarding facility fees and insurance coverage. ****

**** Communicates all financial aspects of care to the surgical patient.****

**** Regularly attends department meetings.****

** Accepts other duties as assigned.**

Required Skills

Minimum Education: High School graduate or GED certification.

Required Experience

Minimum Work Experience: Surgery scheduling experience preferred; Knowledge of Medicare/Medicaid, and/or third party payers preferred; Good typing and computer skills; Must possess exceptional interpersonal communication skills. Knowledge of medical terminology necessary.
