Position Overview

This is a night shift position, requiring 3 shifts of 12 hours each, from 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM. The role is focused on working in a neuroscience unit with a patient-centered approach.

Requirements

Experience: Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience is required.
Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is necessary.
Charting Experience: Proficiency with EPIC charting system is mandatory.
Patient Care: Experience with telemetry, including interpretation and management of dysrhythmias.
Float Requirements: Candidates may be required to float within their scope when needed.

Shift and Scheduling

Shift: Night shifts (7:00 PM - 7:00 AM)
Weekends: Weekend coverage is required. Specific weekend shifts per contract can be discussed.
Time Off: One pre-approved time off period per contract.
Orientation: 24 hours of orientation will be provided.

Facility and Patient Care Details

Patient Age Groups: Adult and geriatric patients.
Daily Patient Census: Approximately 30.5 patients.
Unit Details: The unit has 34 beds, six progressive care beds, and 15 telemetry patients. It is a primary unit for neurology, neurosurgery, and ENT.
Patient Diagnoses: The unit manages cases including strokes, seizures, dementia, and neuromuscular disorders, as well as trauma and elective neurosurgeries.
Interdisciplinary Support: Support services include IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, interpretation services, radiology, social services, lift teams, rapid response teams, pharmacy, and unit secretary services.

Policies

Return Staff Policy: Travelers and permanent staff must be absent for one year before reapplying as travelers.
Natural Nail Policy: The facility has a policy regarding natural nails for staff.
Fingerprinting: Mandatory fingerprinting for all emergency room and psychiatric candidates as per applicable state guidelines.
