Senior Insurance Defense Litigation Attorney (In-House)

Our client, a highly respected insurance company, is seeking experienced litigation attorneys to join its in-house legal team. This role offers the opportunity to influence litigation strategy, manage complex disputes, and partner with business leaders on matters that have significant operational and financial impact.

This position is ideal for attorneys who enjoy both hands-on litigation work and strategic oversight of outside counsel. The successful candidate will bring substantial courtroom experience, strong judgment, and the ability to evaluate complex risk and exposure across a diverse litigation portfolio.

This is a fully remote opportunity; however, candidates must reside in the Phoenix area. The client is seeking local talent due to the potential for conversion to a full-time employee role based on performance and business needs.

What You'll Do

\n

\n
• Manage a portfolio of sophisticated litigation matters.
\n
• Develop and execute litigation strategies that align with business objectives.
\n
• Evaluate risk, exposure, and resolution opportunities across active matters.
\n
• Direct and partner with outside counsel on significant cases.
\n
• Assess trial readiness, settlement strategy, and case performance.
\n
• Advise senior business and legal leaders on litigation-related issues.
\n
• Help drive consistent, efficient, and high-quality litigation outcomes.
\n

What We're Looking For

\n

\n
• J.D. from an accredited law school.
\n
• Active bar membership in good standing.
\n
• 6+ years of litigation experience.
\n
• Demonstrated trial experience, including personally handling cases through trial.
\n
• Strong legal judgment and strategic thinking abilities.
\n
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
\n
• Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
\n
• Attorney based in the Phoenix-area office.
\n

Preferred Experience

\n

\n
• Insurance defense, claims litigation, or complex civil litigation.
\n
• Experience managing outside counsel.
\n
• In-house legal department experience.
\n
• Experience working within large, sophisticated organizations.
\n
• Background navigating highly regulated environments.
\n
