The Patient Access Representative is a critical front-line role responsible for ensuring a seamless patient registration process for admissions, emergency, and outpatient services at a highly ranked nonprofit hospital. This position requires accuracy, customer service, and strong insurance knowledge to guarantee proper patient identification, billing, and collections. Key Responsibilities
- Register and pre-register patients in Epic for all hospital encounters
- Obtain and verify demographic and insurance information with high accuracy
- Ensure correct MRN selection and use two patient identifiers for every encounter
- Collect and post patient payments at the point of service, following strict cash handling protocols
- Maintain a 95% or higher registration accuracy rate
- Complete, scan, and document all required registration forms in Epic
- Manage registration work queues efficiently
- Professionally answer and route calls via PBX, following emergency and alarm protocols
- Deliver service aligned with the hospital s AIDET standards to patients, visitors, and staff
