Remote DE Underwriter (CHUMS required)

An established mortgage banker is seeking an experienced Mortgage Underwriter to join its team. We’re looking for a collaborative underwriter who thrives on engaging with the origination team and is comfortable picking up the phone to ensure clear communication and accurate loan decisions. Responsibilities Evaluate mortgage loan applications to ensure compliance with company policies and federal/state regulations Analyze borrower financials, credit reports, and property appraisals to determine eligibility Assess risk and provide thorough loan decisions with clear explanations and conditions Collaborate closely with processors, loan officers, and stakeholders to resolve questions and expedite the process Stay up-to-date with industry trends, guidelines, and best practices Qualifications Active DE is required; VA is a plus Must have underwritten frontline new purchase loans within the past 3 years Minimum 5 years of residential mortgage underwriting experience Strong understanding of FHA, VA, Conventional, Non-QM, and Jumbo products Experience with Encompass strongly preferred Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively in a team environment Salary: $85,000 – $95,000 per year Paid overtime, Monthly bonus up to $900/month Please note that National Mortgage Staffing does not determine the salary, requirements, or qualifications for this role.
