Travel RN – Neuro Medical Surgical Unit | 13-Week Contract

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Neuro Registered Nurse for a 13-week travel assignment on a specialized 20-bed Neuroscience unit. This unit cares for patients with a variety of neurological conditions, including stroke, seizure disorders, post-operative spine surgeries, and other complex neurological diagnoses.

Contract Details

• Contract Length: 13 Weeks
• Shift: 12-Hour Days or Nights
• Weekly Hours: 36 Hours
• Weekend Requirement: Every Other Weekend or Unit-Based Weekend Rotation
• Holiday Requirement: Participation in Holiday Rotation

Patient Population

• Stroke Patients
• Seizure Disorders
• Deep Brain Stimulator (DBS) Patients
• Neurological Disorders
• Post-Operative Spine Surgery Patients
• Neuroscience Medical-Surgical Patients

Nurse-to-Patient Ratios

• 1:5–6 Patient Ratio

Required Qualifications

• Active RN License
• BLS Certification
• NIHSS Certification (Required at Submission)
• Recent EPIC Experience
• Strong Neuro Nursing Experience
• Experience caring for stroke and neurological patients
• Proficiency with G-Tube management and enteral feeding systems

Preferred Qualifications

• ACLS Certification
• Advanced Neuro Assessment Experience

Clinical Skills Required

• Neurological Assessments
• Stroke Care
• Seizure Management
• Post-Operative Spine Care
• G-Tube Management
• Neuro Patient Monitoring
• Documentation in EPIC

Medications & Drips Encountered

Experience with the following medications is preferred:

• Amiodarone
• Cardizem
• Nitro
• Dopamine
• Nipride
• Ketamine
• Lasix
• Bumex
• Insulin

Support Staff

• Charge Nurse Available 24/7
• Approximately 3 CNAs per Shift
• CNA Ratios: 1:7–10
• Respiratory Therapy Available 24/7
• Monitor Technicians Provide Telemetry Monitoring

Floating Requirements

Travelers may float to:

• 7E
• 7W
• 7NE
• 10E
• Other units within competency as needed

Scheduling Information

• Unit may allow up to 3 consecutive shifts when possible
• Travelers must remain flexible based on unit needs
• Weekend and holiday rotation required

Orientation

• 1 Unit-Specific Orientation Shift

Dress Code

• Any combination of White and Royal Blue Scrubs
