Job Summary:
The Intermediate Care Unit (IMCU) registered nurse position is based in Wausau, Wisconsin. This role involves working in a 36-bed Med Surg Intermediate Care unit with a focus on patients requiring stepdown or intermediate-level care, including those on ventilators or with trachs. The position requires adaptability to a rotating shift schedule and the ability to manage a fast-paced, high-acuity environment.

Job Details:

• Shift: Rotating, 12-hour shifts (day/night variable), with a minimum of 36 hours per week
• Start Date: 07/06/2026
• Required Qualifications: WI Registered Nurse (RN) License, Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), minimum of 2+ years of experience with stepdown/intermediate care, including ventilator and trach management; Trauma Level II experience and ICU experience preferred; at least one prior travel assignment required; charting experience with EPIC preferred
• Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree in Nursing
• Schedule: 12-hour variable shifts, with every other weekend and holiday shifts required
• Additional Information: The unit operates a heavy telemetry environment with a diverse patient population including sepsis, trauma alcohol detox, GI bleed, colostomy/ileostomy, chest tubes, TBI, orthopaedic trauma, spinal cord injury, and stroke. The patient-to-nurse ratio is 4:1. The unit has a fixed note regarding radius rule, requiring contractors to be outside a 50-mile radius of the facility.
