Data Center Technician

Salary: $95,000 - 135,000 per year Requirements:

• We prefer a higher education credential or degree, though it is not mandatory; an equivalent foreign qualification from an accredited institution is also acceptable.
• We will also consider 1 to 3 years of progressive experience in the specialty in place of each year of education.
• We require at least 2 years of experience in racking, stacking, connecting, and providing basic configuration support for networking or server equipment.
• We need experience working with structured network cabling.
• You should be able to perform the role in datacenters and networking rooms.
• You need strong customer service skills along with solid written and verbal communication abilities.
• You must have working knowledge of Microsoft Office tools, especially Outlook, Excel, and Word, as well as Windows 10.
• You must be able to work independently, collaborate in small teams, and adapt flexibly.
• You must be able to lift 35 lbs on your own.
• You must be willing to travel between buildings by personal vehicle or on foot.
• You may be required to walk, sit, stand, crawl, and kneel for extended periods.
• You must be able to work on ladders for top-of-rack installations.
• You must be able to tolerate short periods in hot, enclosed data center environments.

• We support onsite network operations through smart hands assistance for incidents and service requests.
• We work with remote Level 2 and Level 3 teams to help restore service and resolve outages, including replacing cabling or hardware components.
• We coordinate with remote network support teams to install hardware and patch cables for new customer services.
• We perform rack-and-stack installations for network and server equipment.
• We manage cabling, including fiber and copper patch lead installation.
• We provide console access to remote teams for configuration support when needed.
• We test connectivity after installation and configuration.
• We receive hardware shipments for data center equipment deliveries.
• We verify purchase order accuracy against received hardware.
• We unbox equipment and recycle packaging materials.
• We move equipment from the dock to staging areas or data center racks.
• We install or retrofit server racks, including rails and shelving.
• We carry out power and network cable installation and cable management.
• We scan and label installed network and server devices.
• We identify spare parts for inventory stocking.
• We handle e-waste properly and ensure compliant disposal.
• We support equipment shipping and receiving as needed.
• We escort vendors and technicians when required.
• We complete work requests through the ServiceNow ticketing system.
