To lead the overall communications program, both internal and external; coordinate the exchange of information with media outlets and the general public; develop public relations programs and materials to promote a favorable image of the district and its activities; and engage community organizations designed to partner with schools.

Education/Certification/Experience:
o Bachelor’s degree from accredited college or university required. Master’s degree preferred. Maintain Public Information Officer certification as required by HB 33. At least 3 years in communications preferably in a public setting. Experience with design and production publications.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
o Thorough knowledge of media operations and public relations functions
o Basic knowledge and understanding of school finance, taxation, elections, the legislative process, and education process preferred
o Demonstrated skills in writing, editing, and public speaking
o Proficiency with applications of current technology
o Excellent professional, organizational, communication (both verbal and electronic), presentation, and interpersonal skills
