Maintenance Technician

Job Title: Maintenance Technician Department: Tool Room Reports To: Engineering & Compliance Director FSLA Status: Non‑Exempt Summary Responsible for keeping all machines and their components performing to the specifications set forth by their manufacturers. Installs, maintains and repairs machinery, equipment, physical structures and pipe and electrical systems in commercial or industrial establishments. Sets up and operates conventional, special purpose and numerical control (NC) machines and machining centers to fabricate and produce metallic and nonmetallic parts. Assists with Safety, Environmental, and 6S programs. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Maintain all machinery, equipment and plant facilities. Perform regular preventive maintenance, inspections, and repairs on machinery and auxiliary equipment to comply with ISO9002. Maintain records of planned and completed maintenance. Install and repair electrical apparatus, such as transformers and wiring, and electrical and electronic components of machinery and equipment. Repair and maintain physical structure and property of establishment. Measures, marks and scribes dimensions and reference points on material or workpiece as guides to subsequent machining. Fits and assembles parts into complete assembly. Verifies dimensions and alignment of assembly. Installs machined replacement parts in mechanisms, machines, and equipment and tests operation of unit to ensure functionality and performance. Operates welding equipment to cut or weld parts. Assists in monitoring all work being done by outside contractors. Coordinates special projects as directed by management. Responsible for 24‑hour emergency maintenance service as needed. Ensure safety standards are used which comply with all company, local, city, state and federal guidelines. Ensure compliance with all work‑related activities in a fair, ethical and consistent manner. Follow established company policies and those outlined in the Employee Handbook. Maintain professional courtesy with all vendors, contractors, employees, and associates. Education and or Experience Associate degree (A.A.) or equivalent from two‑year college or technical school; or three to five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Language Skills Ability to read and interpret documents such as work orders, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to listen carefully to co‑workers, to identify problems and concerns, speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization. Mathematical Skills Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. Reasoning and Communicating Ability Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. Maintenance Tech must be physically able to work on and around machinery on a frequent basis, sometimes within limited confines and under stressful conditions. Employee needs the ability to exert maximum muscle force to lift, push, pull, or carry objects. Employee needs the ability to quickly and repeatedly adjust the controls of a machine to exact positions. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use one or both hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, bend, twist and stretch, and sit. Employee needs the ability to coordinate two or more limbs, for example, two arms, two legs, or one leg and one arm while sitting, standing or lying down. The employee must have the ability to move his or her body, hands and arms to hold, grasp, manipulate, steady or assemble objects. Employee needs the ability to use his or her abdominal and lower back muscles to support part of the body repeatedly or continuously over time without giving out or fatiguing. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance and must be able to climb ladders and work at elevations up to 50 feet. The employee must constantly lift and/or move up to 20 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. The employee must be able to talk or hear and communicate with others while performing job duties. Employee needs the ability to see details at close range. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
