Job Summary: Emergency Room (ER) Nursing Nights (Woodland, CA). In the Emergency Room, the registered nurse will provide care for a broad range of acute presentations, including chest pain rule-outs for myocardial infarction, exacerbations of chronic conditions, and behavioral health holds. The role requires readiness to interpret electrocardiogram (EKG) strips and maintain safe, patient-centered care in a fast-paced environment. Candidates are required to bring their license on the first day.

Job Details:

• Schedule: 12-hour nights; every other weekend; minimum 36 hours per week
• Required Qualifications: BLS (Basic Life Support), ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support), PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support), NIHSS (National Institute of Health Stroke Scale); experience in Emergency Room/acute care is required (minimum 2 years); current licensure required for submission
• Preferred Qualifications: None stated
• Additional Information:
  • Telemetry experience required; ability to read and interpret EKG strips is required
  • Cerner charting system is used
  • Charge nurse support is available (generally does not take patients, but may provide break relief)
  • Nurse aides are available based on census and staffing
  • RT (Respiratory Therapy) is available 24/7 and pharmacy services are available 24/7
  • Floating may be required to other Sacramento facilities; mid-shift float is rare but can occur
  • Floor-specific orientation includes 12 days on the unit with a preceptor
  • Common patient types include chest pain rule-out for MI, exacerbation of chronic diseases, and psych holds
