Senior Director, Accounting Policy & Financial Reporting

Confidential retained search to identify a Senior Director of Accounting Policy for a Fortune 250 global company. This executive-level leader will oversee accounting policy, financial reporting and inventory accounting for a company of $22 billion in annual revenue.

Reporting directly to the CAO/Controller, this person will lead an accounting organization of more than 60 professionals, including senior managers, and serve as a key partner to business unit finance, corporate reporting, external auditors and senior leadership. The opportunity is open due to an internal promotion.

What you’ll do

  • Lead accounting policy and provide guidance on significant, complex accounting matters across the business unit.
  • Oversee financial reporting and inventory accounting for multiple subsidiaries.
  • Review technical accounting analyses and white papers, and help resolve reporting issues during the close.
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for Deloitte and Corporate Audit on business unit accounting matters.
  • Strengthen internal controls and support improvements to accounting systems, tools and reporting processes.
  • Develop senior accounting leaders and guide a large, geographically dispersed team.
  • Partner with the CAO/Controller and other senior leaders on accounting decisions that affect the business.

What we’re looking for

  • At least 10 years of experience in financial accounting, reporting and internal controls.
  • 5 plus years of experience leading large teams and working directly with senior executives.
  • 5 years min of public accounting experience
  • CPA
  • A background in public accounting, followed by substantial finance or accounting leadership experience.
  • Strong technical accounting judgment and experience resolving complex issues with external auditors and internal partners.
  • Public-company reporting experience and the ability to explain complicated accounting matters clearly.
  • Experience with inventory accounting or a complex manufacturing, distribution or industrial business is particularly relevant.

Compensation

Compensation is expected to include approximately $235,000–$260,000 , depending on location and experience, plus a 30–40% target bonus with potential for a higher payout and annual long-term incentives RSU of 40-50% of the annual Salary. Potential total compensation is approximately $400,000–$550,000 .

This position requires working at one of the listed locations. Relocation assistance is available. Candidates must meet applicable U.S. person and conflict-of-interest requirements; visa sponsorship is unavailable.
