Detailed Job Description:
Seeking a versatile QA Automation & Manual Testing Engineer to own the quality of the web, API, and backend systems that serve millions of Spectrum customers. You will design and maintain robust automation frameworks, execute rigorous manual and exploratory testing, and leverage AI-powered tooling to accelerate test creation, coverage, and defect detection. This is a hands-on role for someone who is equally comfortable writing automated test suites, digging into complex functional scenarios by hand, and using modern AI assistants to work faster and smarter.

Key Responsibilities
Test Automation
Design, develop, and maintain automated test suites for web UI, REST/SOAP APIs, and backend data validation
Build and extend SDD/TDD/BDD-style automation frameworks for readable, maintainable tests
Implement cross-browser and cross-platform automated web testing
Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines with reporting, quality gates, and flaky-test triage
Develop reusable test utilities, data factories, and page objects to scale coverage efficiently
AI-Assisted Quality Engineering
Use AI coding assistants (GitHub Copilot, Amazon Q, Cursor, Kiro or similar) to accelerate test-script authoring and framework development
Leverage generative AI (ChatGPT, Claude) to draft test cases, edge-case scenarios, and test data from requirements and user stories
Apply AI-powered testing tools for self-healing locators, visual validation, and intelligent test maintenance (e.g., Testim, Applitools, Mabl, Functionize)
Use AI to analyze failures, cluster defects, and prioritize regression suites to reduce cycle time
Prompt-engineer effective, reliable AI workflows and validate AI-generated tests for correctness and coverage
Continuously identify opportunities to raise team velocity and coverage through AI automation
Manual & Functional Testing
Author and execute detailed test plans, test cases, and test scripts from functional and business requirements
Perform Smoke, Functional, Integration, Regression, End-to-End, and exploratory testing
Conduct backend/database validation using SQL to verify data integrity across systems
Create, condition, and maintain test data aligned to functional requirements (AI-assisted where useful)
Identify, document, and track defects to resolution using JIRA/Confluence/Rally
API & Services Testing
Validate REST and SOAP web services, including JSON and XML payload verification
Build API test collections and automated API regression suites
Perform basic performance/load validation of key service endpoints
Quality Process & Collaboration
Partner with developers, business analysts, and product managers across onshore/offshore teams
Participate actively in all Agile (Scrum) ceremonies across the SDLC/STLC
Drive root-cause analysis of defects and advocate for preventative quality practices
Champion AI-driven productivity practices and share reusable prompts/workflows with the team

Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent practical experience)
5-10 years of experience in QA, test automation, and manual testing across the full STLC
Proven hands-on experience building UI automation with Selenium WebDriver
Strong experience with BDD frameworks
Solid API testing experience with Postman and/or SoapUI
Proficiency in at least one programming language (Java or Python) for test automation
Strong SQL skills for backend/data-integrity testing
Experience integrating automated tests into CI/CD pipelines
Hands-on experience using AI assistants (to improve testing velocity and coverage
Experience working in Agile/Scrum teams and with defect-tracking tools
Demonstrated ability to design, execute, and document both automated and manual test cases

Preferred Qualifications
Experience with modern UI automation tools (Cypress, Playwright, or WebdriverIO)
Experience with AI-powered testing platforms (Applitools, Testim, Mabl, Functionize)
Strong prompt-engineering skills for generating and maintaining test artifacts
Experience with TestNG, REST Assured or Karate for API automation
Exposure to containerized test environments (Docker, Kubernetes)
Performance testing experience (Gatling, JMeter)
ISTQB or equivalent QA certification
Exposure to telecommunications, media, banking, or other large-scale distributed systems
