Essential Functions of the Job Regular attendance and timely reporting to work, ready to begin the scheduled shift. Arrive to work on time in accordance with the attendance policy, wearing the appropriate and approved work attire/uniform, maintaining a neat and professional appearance. Complete work in a timely manner and meet established productivity standards. Keep the work area clean, safe, and well-organized. Demonstrate a collaborative team attitude, working together effectively to accomplish tasks, including supporting other operational areas when needed. Accurately record all hours worked. Seek approval from management prior to working any overtime (including clocking in early or staying beyond a scheduled shift). Perform additional duties as assigned. Job Duties Read, understand, and carefully follow safety labels on chemical containers (Never mix laundry chemicals); understand the precise operational parameters of all cleaning equipment and refer to Safety Data Sheets (SDS) before use. Turn in all guest articles found mixed into linen bundles to the Executive Housekeeper or Supervisor immediately; ensure found items are properly dated, bagged, and tagged in accordance with Lost & Found procedures. Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) such as safety gloves, protective goggles, or apron guards to work safely and prevent workplace injury. Separate soiled laundry items accurately according to fabric type, weight, color, and wash requirements (e.g., separating sheets, blankets, duvets, and towels). Wash all sorted items according to methods prescribed by the machine manufacturer and chemical guidelines, utilizing proper automated formula selections; pretreat heavily stained or soiled items prior to washing. Dry all items using the proper heat settings and cooling cycles specific to the fabric type to protect textile longevity. Promptly shake out, fold, stack, and store all laundered items following established folding techniques to prevent wrinkling and maintain crisp presentation. Inspect cleaned linens and terry continuously to ensure strict quality control; immediately isolate any stained, torn, or damaged items and set them aside for treatment, conversion, or supervisor review. Prepare and fulfill Room Attendants' daily linen inventory staging and supply orders for prompt distribution to the floors or closets. Clean commercial dryer lint traps thoroughly every morning, and clear them systematically after every two hours of continuous use to optimize efficiency and eliminate fire hazards. Maintain an expert operational understanding of all property laundry washers, dryers, and irons; recognize, document, and report any equipment malfunctions or utility issues to maintenance or supervisors promptly. Assist in other operational areas of the hotel as assigned by management (such as supporting Houseperson tasks, cleaning public spaces, or assisting with room resets) to ensure overall guest satisfaction and team flow. Experience: Prior experience in commercial laundry, industrial cleaning, or dry-cleaning environments is preferred; a commitment to workplace safety, team collaboration, and high production quality standards is required. Performance Measurement Performance is evaluated through ongoing feedback from leadership, attendance reliability, laundry production volume, quality control audits (stain/wrinkle counts), peer feedback, and property brand cleanliness scores. Physical Demands: Work is performed in a hotel laundry environment, which can experience fluctuations in heat and humidity. This position is physically demanding as it requires physical stamina for extended periods of standing, walking, bending, reaching, folding, twisting, and lifting or moving linen bundles weighing up to 50 pounds. It requires moderate levels of physical agility and standard commercial equipment operation. Extended workdays may occasionally be required to meet workload demands during peak operational or seasonal periods.
