We are seeking qualified, like-minded Certified Medical Assistants to join our team!

This role will be Monday to Thursday, and will travel to Galen East Gi on Thursday afternoons for clinic

Summary/Objective: Collaborates with the provider to determine the needs of the patient and assists the provider with providing quality medical care to the patients.

Essential Functions: Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform these essential functions.

• Verifies patient information by interviewing patient; recording medical history; confirming purpose of visit.
• Prepares patients for examination by performing preliminary physical tests; taking blood pressure, weight, and temperature; reporting patient history summary.
• Collects data accurately and ensures that all information is entered into the patient's medical record in EHR.
• Prepares and stocks examination and treatment rooms.
• Clean and sterilize instruments.
• Assists provider with minor office procedures.
• Schedules outpatient testing, procedures or surgeries.
• Manages referral process including hospital admissions, testing and procedures, pre-certification.
• Triage patient phone calls per site's protocol.
• Process prescription refill requests per physician's protocol.
• Performs ancillary testing: EKG, spirometry, cryotherapy, etc.
• Laboratory testing may include rapid tests, urinalysis, bilirubin, auto CBC, and phlebotomy.
• Reviews lab and test results. Provide follow up to patient per provider's instructions.

Other Duties/Responsibilities:

• Provide health education to the patient as needed.
• Performs all duties in compliance with Galen's clinical policies and OSHA standards.
• Maintains clean and neat work area.
• Active participation in process improvement efforts.
• May be required to assist other team members based on office demands.
• Recognize and demonstrate cost-effective measures in utilization of supplies and equipment.

Qualifications

Education:

• High school graduate or equivalent.
• Must be a certified medical assistant from a nationally accredited institution.
• One year of relative medical assistant experience in the clinical setting is required if completion of a medical assistant program qualification is not met.
• 1-3 years' clinical medical assistant experience is preferred.
• Electronic medical record experience preferred.

Experience:

• Previous clinical and phlebotomy experience is preferred.
• Individual must be BLS trained and certified at all times.
• Must be computer literate.

Skills/Certifications:

• Basic life support certification is required.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to multi-task and work as a team player.
• Excellent computer skills.
• Ability to follow clinical pathways and protocols.
• Excellent customer service skills, with the ability to handle higher-stress phone calls.
