Strategic HR Director: Growth, Compliance & People Leader

Position Overview We are seeking an experienced and strategic Human Resources Director to lead and manage all aspects of human resources for our growing contract mining organization. This role will be based in our customer's San Antonio home office and will serve as a key member of the leadership team, supporting both field operations and corporate functions across multiple project sites. The Human Resources Director will be responsible for developing and executing HR strategies that align with business objectives, ensure compliance, strengthen workforce development, and promote a strong safety- and performance-driven culture. Key Responsibilities Lead and oversee all HR functions, including recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, performance management, compensation, benefits, and training Partner with executive leadership to develop and implement HR strategies that support company growth and operational needs Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, including those relevant to mining and construction environments Manage talent acquisition efforts for both salaried and hourly roles across corporate and field operations Develop and maintain HR policies, procedures, and employee handbook updates Provide guidance and support to managers on employee relations matters, disciplinary actions, and performance issues Oversee benefits administration, payroll coordination, and HRIS systems Lead workforce planning, succession planning, and employee development initiatives Support safety culture initiatives in coordination with operations and safety leadership Analyze HR metrics and trends to support data-driven decision-making Manage and mentor HR staff as the department grows Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred) 8+ years of progressive HR experience, with at least 3–5 years in a leadership or director-level role Experience in telecom, mining, construction, heavy civil, or industrial environments strongly preferred Strong knowledge of employment law, compliance, and best HR practices Proven ability to work effectively with field-based and corporate teams Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills Experience supporting multi-state or multi-site operations preferred SHRM-SCP, SPHR, or similar professional certification a plus What We Offer Competitive salary and benefits package Opportunity to play a key leadership role in a growing, dynamic mining services company Collaborative, team-oriented work environment Long-term career growth and professional development opportunities #J-18808-Ljbffr Turner-Mining-Group-LLC
