Job Title: Lab Technician

1st Shift, Contract Duration: 3 months, 2 weeks, 3 days

1st Shift, Monday - Friday, 6:00 AM–2:30 PM

1st Shift Position: Start date: 09/14

2nd Shift, Contract Duration: 3 months

2nd Shift, Monday - Friday, 2:00 PM–10:30 PM

2nd Shift Position: Target start date: 09/28 or 10/05

Description:

• Seasonal only position, Temp only position
• Reinforced toe shoes or Composite
• High School Diploma or GED not required but preferred
• Good Communication skills!
• Candidate needs to have Reliable Transportation

Daily Job Duties:

• Prepare Samples for and perform Mineral Analysis Assay via ICP
• Prepare Samples for an perform Organic Matter Assay via Automated Multi-Place Balance Robot
• Prepare Samples for an perform pH and Lime Index Assays via Automated Multi-Place pH Probe Robot
• Responsible for working with NIR instruments and floating in the laboratory when needed
• Evaluate Results for Quality Program Compliance based on Established Protocols
• Perform Basic Instrument Preparation and Troubleshooting
• Perform data entry and documentation

Job Requirements:

• Science Background preferred with BS or AS. The candidate could also be a college student working toward a degree.
• Ability to stand in one place for extended periods of time
• Ability to work in a high placed, high throughput environment with maintained attention to detail
• Prior experience with ICP, IR and wet chemical analysis in a regulated laboratory environment preferred
• Soil lob environment: must be able to work in a dusty/dirty lab setting (lab coat and mask will be available)
• Flexible schedule (i.e. staying longer, coming in earlier as needed)
• Ability to perform routine testing in an efficient and task-oriented manner

***Brief Overview of Sure-Tech, Job Duties, and Work Environment:

• *Sure-Tech is a division of Land O'Lakes located in Indianapolis, IN. It is a testing laboratory serving the agricultural industry. Sure-Tech hires staff seasonally to help test a large influx of samples in the laboratory. The facility is located on the western side of Indianapolis, close to the airport.
• *This laboratory tests soil and plant products, so the work environment can be dusty and dirty. It is not a glamorous laboratory environment like someone might picture from school or a movie. Samples are ground to prepare them for testing, which creates dust. They do try to keep the areas as clean as possible, but it is possible some people may need to wear a dust mask.
• *This role will focus on testing samples using ICP analysis. In addition to sample preparation and testing, Laboratory Technicians will support laboratory organization, cleaning duties, and other responsibilities as needed.
• *The day-to-day work is very repetitive. Employees will be on their feet throughout the day, except during lunch or dinner breaks.
• *There will be no interview with the hiring manager during this process because Land O’Lakes trusts Kelly to complete the interview process. If selected for hire, the first day will include a brief orientation, a meet-and-greet, and a laboratory tour before training begins.
• *This position requires employees to wear non-mesh steel-toe or composite-toe shoes.
• *Employees selected for hire are expected to make a decision on the offer very quickly.
• *A background check is required for this position. A drug test is not required at this time.
