Cardiac Stress Lab Registered Nurse

Job Summary

This role is for an experienced Registered Nurse to join a dynamic combined Stress and Echo Lab within a leading Heart and Vascular Institute in New York, US. The unit provides comprehensive non-invasive cardiac services for both inpatient and outpatient populations.

The Cardiac Stress Lab RN will be a key member of a collaborative team, working alongside Cardiac Sonographers, onsite Cardiologists, and Nuclear Medicine Technologists. This position focuses on performing a variety of stress testing procedures, ensuring high-quality patient care and accurate diagnostic support.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform and monitor plain treadmill stress tests.
• Conduct nuclear stress tests in close collaboration with Nuclear Medicine Technologists.
• Execute stress echocardiograms.
• Assist Cardiologists with Dobutamine stress testing, including patient preparation and monitoring.
• Initiate and maintain intravenous (IV) access for medication administration and diagnostic procedures.
• Administer Definity as required during stress testing.
• Adhere to and implement established stress testing protocols and procedures.
• Accurately document all patient data, test results, and observations within the Epic electronic health record system.
• Ensure patient safety and comfort throughout the stress testing process.

Required Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license.
• Mandatory telemetry monitoring experience.
• Demonstrated cardiology experience.
• Proficiency in performing and monitoring various stress tests (treadmill, nuclear, stress echo).
• Competency in IV insertion and administration of Definity.

• Clinical Skills: Advanced cardiac assessment, EKG interpretation, stress testing protocols (treadmill, nuclear, stress echo, dobutamine), IV insertion, medication administration (Definity), telemetry monitoring, emergency response in cardiac events.
• Equipment & Technology: Operation of GE Ventri Nuclear Cameras, proficiency with Epic electronic health record (EHR) system for documentation and reporting.
• Soft Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, strong critical thinking and problem-solving abilities, ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and high-pressure environment, meticulous attention to detail, strong teamwork and collaboration.

Shift Details

• Schedule: Monday through Friday, 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM.
• Shift Duration: 8.5 hours per shift.
• Days Per Week: 5 days.
• Call Requirements: Mandatory Saturday call rotation from 7:00 AM to 11:00 AM to perform inpatient studies in collaboration with an Echo Technologist.
• Weekend Rotations: Saturday call as specified; no routine outpatient stress testing on weekends.
• Contract Length: 13 weeks.
• Assignment Dates: May 11, 2026, to August 9, 2026.
