CUSTOMER SERVICE SPECIALIST 1229 (REVISED 06/24/26) (B)

The City of Los Angeles is seeking a Customer Service Specialist to support business tax, licenses, and permits services. The assistant will handle cashiering, process and review customer requests, resolve billing questions, manage service complaints, and provide information on City business tax, exemptions, ordinances, rules, regulations, and policies. The role requires frequent use of computer terminals for inputting requests, reviewing billing information, and following up on pending cases. Annual Salary $65,417 to $95,609; and $72,015 to $105,318 (salary is at the start of the pay range). Qualifications Two years of full‑time paid call center operation or direct customer service experience, responding to inquiries in person, telephonically, via e‑mail, or online chat. At least six months of full‑time experience, or 960 cumulative hours, with the City of Los Angeles Office of Finance at the level of a Tax Renewal Assistant handling or supporting business tax billings or payments. Completion of a four‑week Business Tax Ordinance class provided by the City of Los Angeles Office of Finance.
