Title: Technician II - Electronic Product Fabrication & Assembly


Location: Boulder, CO


Pay: $30.37/hr. on W2
Duration: 12-Month Contract to Hire
Work Schedule: Full-Time, On-Site (5 Days/Week)


Position Overview


We are seeking a Technician II - Electronic Product Fabrication & Assembly to support the fabrication, assembly, testing, and troubleshooting of electronic hardware and support equipment used in advanced engineering, aerospace, defense, and technology programs. This role involves building high-reliability cable assemblies, rack systems, chassis, and test equipment while ensuring strict adherence to quality, safety, and manufacturing standards.


The ideal candidate possesses strong electro-mechanical aptitude, experience working with hand tools and electronic assembly processes, and the ability to interpret technical drawings, schematics, and work instructions.


Key Responsibilities


Fabrication & Assembly

• Fabricate, assemble, and rework electronic and electro-mechanical hardware, including cable assemblies, chassis, rack systems, and test equipment.
• Perform wire stripping, crimping, connector installation, soldering, cable routing, shielding, grounding, and harness assembly.
• Assemble products using engineering drawings, wiring diagrams, assembly instructions, and manufacturing documentation.
• Interpret electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, and wire lists accurately.
• Troubleshoot assembly issues and identify workmanship or design-related discrepancies.
• Utilize hand tools, power tools, and fabrication equipment as required.

Testing & Quality Assurance

• Perform continuity testing, cable verification, and electrical inspections using Digital Multimeters (DMMs) and automated cable test equipment.
• Record and maintain accurate test results and production documentation.
• Identify, document, and escalate non-conforming conditions or out-of-tolerance results.
• Ensure all work meets applicable workmanship, quality, and manufacturing standards.
• Support continuous improvement efforts to enhance product quality and manufacturing efficiency.

Project & Team Support

• Complete assigned tasks within established cost, schedule, and quality objectives.
• Collaborate effectively with engineering, manufacturing, quality, and program teams.
• Provide technical support during assembly, integration, and testing activities.
• Support priority projects and critical deadlines, including overtime when required.
• Maintain a safe, organized, and productive work environment.

Required Qualifications

• High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent.
• Minimum of 1 year of experience in electronic assembly, cable fabrication, manufacturing, aerospace, defense, or a related technical environment.
• Experience using hand tools and electronic assembly equipment.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, assembly drawings, wiring diagrams, and test procedures.
• Basic computer skills, including data entry and documentation.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to work independently and in a collaborative environment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with cable and wire harness fabrication.
• Knowledge of electro-mechanical assembly processes.
• Prior experience working in laboratory, manufacturing, production, cleanroom, or highly regulated environments.
• Familiarity with engineering change management, manufacturing execution systems, or product lifecycle management tools.
• Experience performing electrical testing and troubleshooting.
• Certifications or willingness to obtain certifications in:
• IPC/WHMA-A-620 Cable & Wire Harness Assembly
• J-STD-001 Soldering Standards
• ESD (Electrostatic Discharge) Protection
• Cleanroom Procedures and Protocols

Work Environment

• Primarily on-site in a laboratory, production, manufacturing, or cleanroom environment.
• May require the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Occasional movement between facilities or work locations.
• Ability to work in varying environmental conditions as required by program needs.
