Job Overview

AMAT is seeking an Estimator to take on a critical leadership role in its preconstruction process. This position involves overseeing all estimating activities for public and private road construction projects, driving bid strategy, and ensuring the accuracy and competitiveness of proposals. The Estimator directly contributes to AMATs growth and market leadership through strategic insight and operational excellence.

• An experienced professional with at least 3 years in civil, infrastructure, or related construction estimating or project management.

What Youll Do

• Lead all estimating activities for public and private road construction projects.
• Drive bid strategy and manage market intelligence to ensure competitive proposals.
• Coordinate cross-functionally with sales, operations, and project management teams.
• Maintain strong relationships with subcontractors, vendors, and regulatory agencies.
• Build and maintain project setups in HCSS for awarded contracts.
• Perform quantity takeoffs and evaluate subcontractor/vendor proposals.
• Monitor and report on Margin Loss Tracking (MLT) and bid-versus-build performance.
• Support Project Managers with field execution logistics and coordination.

What Were Looking For

• Associates degree or relevant experience (Bachelors preferred).
• Minimum 3 years of experience in estimating or project management for civil or infrastructure construction.
• Required familiarity with construction specifications and estimating tools.
• Strong analytical, communication, and leadership skills.
• Ability to learn and adapt to new estimating systems and project types.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and estimating software (e.g., HCSS) is preferred.
• Self-motivated, collaborative, and possessing a growth mindset.
• Ability to pass a pre-employment physical, drug screen, and background check.
