Conduct research on new materials, detection and control of radiation, radiation transport modeling, statistical analyses, and performance metrics. Recommend technology options and process improvements for safety, performance, efficiency, and cost. Manage Nuclear Work Packages in applicable AWPs, perform risk assessment, and interface with internal and external customers. Design, develop, and test nuclear equipment and systems Research new materials of special interest in nuclear reactors Conduct studies on detection and control of radiation and radioactive contaminants Study nuclear fuel cycle to define economical uses of material and safe disposal of waste products Perform radiation transport modeling, statistical analyses, and performance metrics Recommend technology options or approaches for system, process, facility, or program improvements in terms of safety, performance, efficiency, or cost Develop, maintain, and coordinate the Nuclear Work Package in applicable AWPs ensuring accurate identification and assignment of NPD work Perform risk assessment of nuclear work and its impact on contracted work Support internal and external customer meetings (agenda, IPT, program reviews, scoping meetings) and guide teams on applicable scopes for work Requirements Bachelor’s Degree in engineering from an ABET accredited program and 5 years of relevant exempt experience Master’s Degree and 3 years of relevant professional experience Ph.D. and 0 years of experience (Ph.D. satisfies educational qualification) Extensive knowledge of E81 scope of work and ship systems Excellent verbal and written communication skills to interface with both internal and external customers Nice to Have Knowledge of NNS Planning Process Benefits Medical, prescription drug, dental, and vision plan choices On-site health centers and tele‑medicine services Wellness resources and employee assistance programs 401(k) savings plan options Life insurance and tuition reimbursement Employee discounts and educational scholarships EEO Statement All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, gender, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, national origin, physical or mental disability, age, veteran status, or any other basis protected by federal, state, or local law.
