Medical Laboratory Technician Schedule: 36 hours per week | Night Shift | 12-Hour Shifts Are you looking for a laboratory position where you can make a meaningful impact while enjoying a predictable 36-hour workweek ? Join our Diagnostic Services team at Dallam Hartley Counties Hospital District , where your work directly supports patient care in our rural healthcare community. This position works three 12-hour shifts per week: night shifts . Our laboratory provides a variety of testing services, giving you the opportunity to use and expand your skills across multiple areas of the laboratory. Job Summary Performs medical laboratory tests, procedures, and analyses to provide accurate and timely data used in the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of disease. Essential Functions To accomplish this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily, with or without reasonable accommodation. Perform technical laboratory testing in areas including chemistry, hematology, urinalysis, microbiology, immunohematology, and immunology . Perform phlebotomy and specimen collection duties. Report test results according to established protocols and promptly notify providers and/or nursing staff of critical or abnormal results. Ensure proper specimen collection, identification, handling, and processing. Perform and document quality control procedures and maintain accurate laboratory records. Operate, maintain, calibrate, clean, and troubleshoot laboratory equipment as appropriate. Maintain adequate laboratory supplies and assist with inventory management. Follow laboratory policies, procedures, OSHA requirements, and infection prevention and control standards. Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA requirements. Work collaboratively with laboratory staff, providers, nursing, and other members of the healthcare team. Perform other duties as assigned. Required: Associate degree or higher. Ability to work a 36-hour schedule. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced healthcare environment. Preferred: Medical laboratory experience. MLT, ASCP, AMT, and/or CPT certification. Knowledge of medical laboratory principles, standards, procedures, and testing methodologies. Knowledge of laboratory safety, infection control, and regulatory requirements. Knowledge of laboratory equipment operation and maintenance. Strong attention to detail and accuracy. Effective verbal and written communication skills. Computer and electronic medical record proficiency. Ability to maintain patient, team member, and employer confidentiality. Friendly, professional, and patient-focused approach. Ability to adapt to changing conditions and responsibilities. Positive attitude and willingness to contribute to a supportive team environment. Ability to work independently and collaboratively. Ability to remain calm and effective during stressful or emergent situations. Environmentally controlled laboratory environment. Fast-paced healthcare setting with occasional high-pressure or emergent situations. Frequent exposure to blood and other bodily fluids and potentially infectious specimens. Possible exposure to chemicals, toxic substances, and other conditions commonly associated with laboratory and healthcare environments. PPE may be required, including gloves, masks, gowns, and other protective equipment. Frequent interaction with patients, providers, nursing staff, coworkers, and members of the public. Physical Requirements Frequent standing, walking, grasping, carrying, and speaking. Occasional sitting, reaching, bending, and stooping. Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds, with assistance when needed. Frequent use of computers, keyboards, phones, copy machines, and fax equipment. Why Join Our Team?
