Tools and Parts Attendant

Receives, stores, and issues hand tools, machine tools, dies, replacement parts, shop supplies and equipment, such as measuring devices, in an industrial establishment. The Tools and Parts Attendant does the following keeps records of tools issued to and returned by workers, searches for lost or misplaced tools, prepares periodic inventory or keeps perpetual inventory and requisitions stock as needed, unpacks and stores new equipment; visually inspects tools or measures with micrometer for wear or defects and reports damaged or worn-out equipment to superiors; coats tools with grease or other preservative, using a brush or spray gun, and attaches identification tags or engrave identifying information on tools and equipment using electric marking tool. Minimum Position Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required: High school diploma or general education degree (GED). Minimum one (1) year related experience working with U.S. Army combat and tactical equipment preferred. Familiarity with wide range of tools and equipment associated with support of tracked and wheeled vehicle maintenance effort. Basic knowledge of generally accepted warehousing concepts such as storage layout, locator systems, and proper material handling procedures. Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and be able to operate a government general-purpose vehicle. Work Environment, Physical Demands, and Mental Demands: Work is performed in a shop environment that is moderately lighted, heated and ventilated, is exposed to disagreeable fumes and to cuts and bruises from using tools in close placed and hazards of moving vehicles such as forklifts and sweepers in shop area. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to walk; reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and work in tiring and uncomfortable positions. The employee is occasionally required to sit, climb or balance, and taste or smell. Frequently lifts items weighing 15-25 pounds and occasionally in excess of 45 pounds. Position may require the ability to pass and maintain a Security Clearance. Position may require travel. Compensation & Benefits: HIRING HOURLY Rate of Pay: $22.90 (Hourly rate set by CBA) In accordance with the established Collective Bargaining Agreement, the hourly wage for this position is as follows: Current: $22.90 On or around 6/1/2027: $23.58 This position includes a competitive benefits package, to include: Paid vacation.
