Lifts and Attractions Maintenance Manager

The Lifts and Attractions Maintenance Manager leads the safe operation, inspection, repair, and preventative maintenance of all aerial lifts and mechanical attractions (Mountain Coaster, Giant Swing, and Soaring Eagle Zipline) at Cranmore Mountain Resort.

This role ensures compliance with all applicable ANSI B77.1 standards, state regulatory requirements, manufacturer specifications, and company policies. The manager oversees lift mechanics and maintenance personnel while managing maintenance planning, inspections, capital improvements, and operational readiness for both winter and summer operations. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

1. Direct and manage all aspects of the maintenance operations in accordance with State and Federal regulations as well as Company policy.
2. Ensure compliance with ANSI B77.1, state tramway board regulations, and manufacturer requirements.
3. Perform year-round maintenance on lifts and attractions including but not limited to the Mountain Coaster, Giant Swing, Soaring Eagle, and other equipment as needed.
4. Develop and monitor the departmental budget for lifts and attractions to ensure necessary repairs and maintenance are budgeted and accounted for.
5. Implement and maintain effective systems for maintenance record retention in compliance with risk management, audit, and legal requirements. Conduct routine internal audits of maintenance records to ensure compliance by staff.
6. Utilize maintenance management software and digital record systems to track maintenance activities, inspections, and repairs
7. Successfully deliver consistent repair & maintenance services and integrate the essence of the Cranmore Mountain Resort brand with staff.
8. Maintain technical knowledge and continuity and oversee technical and safety training for all lift mechanics.
9. Provide regular training to direct reports to ensure success and continued growth and development of maintenance mechanics.
10. Prepare operational and maintenance reports by collecting, analyzing and summarizing information.
11. Drive the achievement of resort revenue and/or expense goals, market share and guest service objectives.
12. Establish and implement departmental policies and procedures.
13. Conduct all other repair & maintenance related duties as assigned by the Director of Mountain Operations.
14. Perform other duties as assigned.
15. Flexible working hours including evenings, holidays and weekends.
16. Must be able to operate resort equipment, including but not limited to road vehicles, all-terrain vehicles, snowmobiles, tractors, and other heavy equipment.
17. GENERAL ACCOUNTABILITIES

1. Hire, motivate, evaluate, and direct staff to ensure adequate guidance and resources to achieve established business goals and objectives. Ensure all employees receive the training, support, guidance, feedback and resources necessary for success.
2. Direct and implement departmental standards, guidelines and objectives and maintain other administrative processes such as budgeting and staffing to ensure proper planning, efficient operation of departments and successful achievement of resort goals.
3. Establish and evaluate financial and profitability goals through annual capital and budget plan process.
4. Monitor and evaluate operational projects to ensure the successful execution of activities and to improve the effectiveness of the areas of responsibility.
5. Represent resort at industry specific functions and local community as necessary to contribute operational expertise and value.
6. Maintain and enhance a guest focused culture in all areas of responsibility.
7. Maintain schedules in compliance with regulations and authorities having jurisdiction; manage responsibilities in compliance with resort safety policies.
8. Maintain current status on legal issues and technological advances that impact the industry; maintain awareness of scope and progress of competition.
9. Superior communication skills with all levels of employees, guests and all other outside contacts.
10. Ability to delegate responsibility, motivate and lead direct reports to achieve goals and objectives.
11. Familiarity with state and federal environmental standards and OSHA regulations.
12. Understanding of corporate and resort specific policies and procedures.
13. Some travel involved for corporate and public relations responsibilities. Weekend/holiday and event hours required.
14. 15. Develop professional relationships with vendors, manufacturers, and other entities within the Ski Industry. 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Supervises 2-5 full-time lift mechanics and seasonal maintenance staff. Supervisory responsibilities should be performed in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring and training employees; planning, scheduling, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Bachelor's degree (BA) or equivalent; or five (5) to seven (7) years of management experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience. Three (3) to five (5) years of maintenance experience with a strong mechanical background or lift operations experience with mechanical knowledge.

SCHEDULE

The Lifts and Attractions Manager is a full-time position with a minimum of 40 hours per week during non-peak season, 45 hours during peak winter season, generally December through March. Hours vary based on season and business volumes. The typical schedule is 5 days a week. 8-10 hours a day, between the hours of 7am and 9pm. Weekends, holidays, and vacation weeks are included. During peak business volumes, functions and special events, late evenings may be required, as well as the ability to be on call during these time frames in case of an emergency.
