The Dwight D. Eisenhower VA Medical Center has an opening for an energetic, driven, and compassionate physician to serve in Primary Care .

Facility Details: The Eisenhower VA Medical Center in Leavenworth, Kansas, is part of the VA Eastern Kansas Health Care System. It provides comprehensive health care services to Veterans, including primary care, specialty care, mental health, long-term care, and rehabilitation. Founded in 1885, the center is located on a historic campus and serves thousands of Veterans from northeastern Kansas and surrounding areas The Medical Center also serves Veterans from northeast Kansas and Northwest Missouri, including metropolitan Kansas City, rural areas, and tribal lands. Academically, the VA is affiliated with the University of Kansas School of Medicine and other local nursing and pharmacy schools for training future health professionals.

* Facilities and features: Inpatient and Outpatient Care: 91 beds for acute and long-term care, plus extensive outpatient services.

* Community-Based Outpatient Clinics (CBOCs): Located in St. Joseph and Kansas City, expanding Veteran access to care.

* Historic Campus: Originally established in 1885 for Civil War Veterans, several campus structures are part of the National Register of Historic Places.

Position Details: The primary care physician at the Leavenworth VA Medical Center in Kansas is responsible for delivering comprehensive, patient-centered medical care to Veterans. Key responsibilities include diagnosing and managing acute and chronic illnesses, performing preventive health screenings, coordinating care within a multidisciplinary team, referring to specialists as needed, maintaining accurate medical records, and promoting overall wellness. Physicians also play a role in patient education, chronic disease management, and advocacy for Veteran health needs, ensuring high-quality, accessible care in accordance with VA standards. This comprehensive care will provide preventive, diagnostic, and therapeutic care for a broad range of acute and chronic medical conditions. The physician will also develop, implement, and update personalized treatment plans for patients as well as advocate for and coordinate the overall health care of assigned Veterans.

Additional Duties/Responsibilities :

* Function as the clinical lead in a Patient Aligned Care Team (PACT) with nurses, social workers, mental health providers, and pharmacists.

Participate in team-based care, ensuring communication and continuity across all services.

Tour of duty: Monday-Friday, 8:00am-4:30 pm, no on-call, no weekends.

Salary: $250,000-$315,000.
