Registered Nurse in Emergency Room

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN (Registered Nurse) Specialty: Emergency Room Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: 12H Nights Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 3 years License: Required Certifications: ACLS, BLS, PALS, COVID Vaccine Required Must-Have: - 3-5 years of experience in specialty - Level III trauma experience or above Description: The unit has a total of 15 beds, with a 6-bed fast track open from 9 am to 10 pm. The typical nurse-to-patient ratio is 1 to 4, depending on patient acuity. The electronic medical record system used is Cerner (First Net). Charge nurses are available and may take a small patient load if needed. Nurse aides and a unit secretary are on duty 24/7, with a tech available for 20 hours each day. Weekend requirements involve working every other weekend. Holidays are included within the permanent staff rotation. Scrub color is navy. The telemetry system is Phillips, with a central monitor tech in ICU monitoring ER patient strips. Vents are managed within the unit. A physician is present in-house at all times, with mid-level providers typically available from 9 am to 2 am. A respiratory therapy team is available 24/7, as is a pharmacy team. Shifts are variable, running from 7 am to 11 pm. Schedules are set out 30-45 days in advance. Floating between units is not required. Floor-specific orientation lasts 2-3 days. Common diagnoses include strokes, abdominal pain, orthopedic injuries, and psychiatric patients. The unit experiences about 100 patient visits per day, with approximately 500-600 pediatric patients seen each month. The facility has a cancellation policy allowing for up to 4 shifts to be canceled per 13-week assignment.
