Rutland Northeast Supervisory Union (RNESU) is currently accepting applications for Substitute School Nurses for the 2026-2027 school year. Position Summary Substitute School Nurses provide nursing coverage for RNESU schools when regular school nursing staff are absent. Substitute nurses support the health, safety, and well-being of students by providing appropriate nursing care, responding to student health needs, administering medications and treatments as authorized, and collaborating with school staff, families, and healthcare providers as needed. Qualifications Current Vermont Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license in good standing. Current CPR/AED and First Aid certification preferred. School nursing experience is preferred but not required. Experience working with children and adolescents is preferred. Ability to work collaboratively with students, families, faculty, and staff. Strong communication, organization, judgment, and confidentiality skills. Ability to respond calmly and appropriately to a variety of student health needs. Why Work with RNESU? RNESU supports six elementary schools and one middle/high school and serves approximately 1,500 students from Pre-K through 12th grade in the communities of Brandon, Chittenden, Goshen, Leicester, Mendon, Pittsford, Sudbury, and Whiting. RNESU is dedicated to the development of character, competence, creativity, and community. Substitute school nurses play an important role in supporting healthy, safe, and successful learning environments across our schools. Our region offers abundant opportunities for outdoor recreation, sports, and cultural activities. Nearby attractions include the Paramount Theater in Rutland City and Pico Mountain in Mendon. The Appalachian Trail and Long Trail meet in the Mendon area, while Killington Mountain offers four-season recreation.
