Job Description

The Production Shift Leader I oversees and operates multiple pieces of production line equipment on the 1st shift, leads the assembly and disassembly of production line equipment, and coordinates labor on food production lines. This role ensures production runs smoothly, safely, and efficiently by following established procedures, documenting key production information, and providing guidance and training to production line employees.

Responsibilities

• Operate multiple pieces of production line equipment across different areas during the assigned 1st shift.
• Lead the assembly and disassembly of production line equipment in multiple areas as required by shift assignment.
• Arrange and coordinate labor on food production lines to support production goals, following direction from supervisors and managers.
• Document production downtime, machine setting changes, and materials used during each production run accurately and in a timely manner.
• Train production line employees on proper procedures, equipment operation, and production line tasks.
• Explain processes and answer questions from production line employees to ensure understanding and consistent performance.
• Communicate clearly and professionally with various levels of leadership to report status, issues, and improvement opportunities.
• Follow company procedures and standards for safety, quality, and production at all times.
• Support a fast-paced manufacturing environment by responding quickly to production needs and line changes.
• Supervise and provide direction to a team of approximately 10–30 production employees during the shift.

Essential Skills

• Minimum 2 years of manufacturing production experience within food manufacturing.
• Experience working in a fast-paced production or manufacturing environment.
• At least 6 months of experience in a leadership role such as team lead or line lead, supervising 10–30 employees.
• Ability to operate and oversee production line equipment and machinery.
• Ability to document downtime, setting changes, and materials used during production runs with accuracy.
• Strong communication skills to interact effectively with production staff and leadership.
• Ability to train, explain, and answer questions regarding production line work for production line employees.
• Ability to follow established safety, quality, and production procedures consistently.
• Comfort working in general production, supervision, and production management settings.
• Hands-on experience as a machine operator or in a manufacturing environment.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Previous food industry experience is preferred.
• Experience in production supervision or production management.
• Experience leading assembly and disassembly of production line equipment.
• Ability to work extended schedules, including 6–7 days per week as needed.

Work Environment

This role is based in a food manufacturing facility on the 1st shift, working from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. The position is not a traditional Monday–Friday schedule and requires working 6–7 days per week, depending on production needs. The environment is fast paced, with active production lines, machinery, and frequent equipment assembly and disassembly. You will work on and around production equipment and general manufacturing areas, following all safety and quality procedures appropriate for food production.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of San Antonio, TX 78235.

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $20.00/hr.
