JOB SUMMARY


Under the direction of the Director of Youth Services Bureau or designee, the Adventure Facilitator is responsible for supervising and engaging middle school students in a safe, fun, and supportive camp environment. Adventure Facilitators lead and assist with a variety of outdoor and adventure-based activities such as hiking, biking, kayaking, rock climbing, paddleboarding, and canoeing. The Adventure Facilitator serves as a positive role model for participants while promoting teamwork, personal growth, and safety.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES
• Lead and assist with adventure-based activities including rock climbing, paddleboarding, kayaking, hiking, canoeing, biking, and ropes course exercises.
• Supervise campers to ensure their safety, well-being, and active participation in all activities.
• Communicate and enforce program rules and safety protocols in a professional and positive manner.
• Foster a fun, inclusive, and supportive environment for all participants.
• Provide guidance, encouragement, and mentorship to campers.
• Monitor participants during activities and respond appropriately to emergencies or behavioral issues.
• Assist with the setup, inspection, and breakdown of activity equipment and program areas.
• Document and report any incidents, injuries, or behavioral concerns according to program procedures.
• Attend and participate in required staff meetings and in-service training sessions.
• Support other camp operations and perform related duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND OTHER ATTRIBUTES
• Ability to work effectively with youth in a recreational or educational setting.
• Knowledge of basic outdoor recreation activities and safety practices.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to lead groups and maintain a positive, encouraging attitude.
• Ability to follow safety procedures and respond calmly in emergency situations.
• Ability to work collaboratively with staff in a team environment.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
• Must be at least 16 years of age.
• Ability to participate in and sustain a high level of outdoor physical activity for extended periods.
• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
• CPR/First Aid certification preferred or ability to obtain.
