Special Education Teacher

American Traveler is hiring a Special Education Teacher for a Mod/Severe SLS/Autism Center-Based program serving K-5 students with ASD, requiring at least 1 year of experience working with children on the autism spectrum.

Job Details

• Elementary school setting within a self-contained SLS/Autism Center-Based program,
• Serves K-5 students with autism or ASD-related needs, including non-verbal students,
• Caseload of approximately 10 students,
• Responsible for managing and training 5-6 paraprofessionals in the classroom,
• Utilizes AAC devices and visual supports as part of instruction,
• Day shift schedule: Monday-Friday, 7:30 AM-4:00 PM (5x8-hour shifts),
• 40 hours per week,

Job Requirements

• Special education teaching experience required, including writing IEPs,
• Minimum 1 year of experience serving children with ASD required,
• SLS (Specialized Learning Supports) experience required,
• Strong preference for candidates with experience working with non-verbal students and managing paraprofessional staff,
• License required if applicable,

Additional Information

• Provide specialized instruction to students with autism and moderate-to-severe disabilities in a center-based classroom,
• Responsible for developing, implementing, and managing individualized IEPs,
• CPI (Crisis Prevention Intervention) training required within the first 90 days of assignment
