Physician - Sleep Medicine

Job duties and responsibilities include:

Position requires outstanding clinical, teaching, and interpersonal skills.

The principal responsibilities of the successful candidate will be to interpret in-house and home sleep studies and to manage patients with sleep disorders in the outpatient setting.

Incumbent will support the Pulmonary and Critical Care activities of the other 4 members of the Section which include the provision of comprehensive inpatient and outpatient care for patients with Pulmonary diseases; performance of fiberoptic bronchoscopy procedures, including endoscopic ultrasound; supervision of Medical and Surgical patients in a combined intensive care unit, and supervision of fellows, residents and medical students.

Expertise to develop and engage in clinical research is highly desirable.

The incumbent will have clinical responsibilities to the Medical Service, including periodic service as preceptor to third year medical students, and additional ad hoc clinical, teaching, and administrative assignments as may be required by the Chief of the Medical Service.

The Brooklyn Campus of NYHHS is a major teaching affiliate of State University of New York Downstate Medical Center, and the successful candidate will be appointed at SUNY Downstate at an academic level commensurate his or her experience.

Education Debt Reduction Program (Student Loan Repayment): This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan reimbursement program. To participate in the program, you must meet specific individual eligibility requirements in accordance with VHA Policy 1021 and submit your application within four months of appointment. The final award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years) is determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services office.

Pay: Competitive salary, annual performance bonus, regular salary increases
