Speech Language Pathologist (SLP, Rehab) - Inpatient

Location: 71 Haynes Street (10627). Position Summary Position located in the Greater Manchester Region. Responsible for evaluating, treating, and educating patients as a Speech-Language Pathologist. May cover multiple sites and supervise student(s). Competencies This position requires an individual with strong English communication skills, both verbal and written. Must have basic personal computer skills using Windows programs such as Word, Outlook, and Excel as needed for department functions. Must have access to reliable transportation to travel between multiple work sites; travel is required to perform essential duties. Evaluates patients based on departmental standards. Conducts and modifies evaluations based on the patient’s symptoms, level of activity, and medical status, establishing individualized measurable goals for each patient. Treats patients with appropriate therapeutic techniques. Administers physical agents (modalities) and manual therapeutic techniques to attain established goals. Utilizes effective techniques to assist in normalizing speech and language activity. Educates patients/families in home exercise programs and/or functional activities to maximize independent functional activity. Determines when a patient has achieved maximal benefit from treatment and recommends discharge if appropriate. Documents in accordance with insurance guidelines and adheres to departmental policies and procedures. Seeks and fosters interdepartmental communication and communication with referring physicians regarding patient care as evidenced by observation and chart review. Accurately and consistently fills out and submits charges daily. Adheres to the professional code of ethics established by the ASHA and the facility at all times as evidenced by observation. Performs all duties with proper body mechanics and safety to prevent injuries. Supervises at least one affiliated student per year. Attends continuing education courses to further improve treatment techniques. Participates in at least one departmental in-service or community in-service as evidenced by documentation of educational program. Qualifications Education and certification required: Graduate of an accredited program of Speech Language Pathology with a minimum of an M.S.
