Join us and help change the future of healthcare for the better.PROGRAM DETAILS6 week paid Externship programWhat you'll doApply Medical Assistant knowledge and skills in a real clinical environmentAssist the Physician, PA, or NP in support of medical care of urgent care patients.Day to day activities will vary from triage, answering phones, taking medical histories, to performing lab work.Practice clinical and administrative tasks under direct supervisionDevelop confidence, efficiency, and accuracy in patient careGain exposure to daily clinic workflows and patient flow managementStrengthen communication, teamwork, and professionalismDemonstrate readiness for entry-level Medical Assistant employmentESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIESDemonstrates a high level of interpersonal and communication skills necessary to consistently receive and greet visitors, patients, and staff members in a professional manner.Perform selected medical assisting and administrative duties.Perform direct patient care as instructed by the Physician, PA, or NP.Perform lab tests as directed by the Physician, PA, or NP.Prepare patients for examination and treatment. Take patient histories and vital signs.Prepare exam and treatment rooms with necessary instruments.Administer injections and apply dressings as instructed.Distribute medications as directed by Physician, PA, or NP.Requires the ability to perform venipuncture.Prepare and maintain supplies and equipment for treatments, including sterilization.Assist provider in preparing for minor surgeries and exams.Assist with scheduling of tests and treatments.Maintain equipment for use at all times, in a clean and safe condition.Make suggestions to improve work methods.Other duties may be assigned.QualificationsHigh school diploma or equivalentCurrent enrollment in or recent completion of an accredited Medical Assistant Program1-2 letters of recommendation or endorsement from an accredited Medical Assistant Program supervisor or leadBLS/CPR certification preferredAs a physician-founded and led organization, ensuring everyone has access to quality healthcare is what inspires us.
