MS RN – Night Shift | Akron, OH

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Medical-Surgical Registered Nurse (MS RN) for a Long-Term Assignment at Akron Campus, Ohio. The ideal candidate will have strong recent Med-Surg experience, Epic EMR proficiency, and the ability to work in a fast-paced acute care setting focused on geriatric and overflow medical/surgical patients.

• Shift: Nights | 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM
• Job Type: Long-Term Assignment

Unit Information

This is a 28-bed Medical-Surgical unit providing 24/7 inpatient acute care primarily for geriatric patients (65+), along with overflow medical and surgical patients. The unit follows the “4Ms” framework for age-friendly care:

• What Matters
• Medication
• Mentation
• Mobility

Patients commonly present with:

• GI Bleed (GIB)
• UTI
• Trauma
• Infection
• Pneumonia
• CHF
• Altered Mental Status
• Failure to Thrive

Typical nurse-to-patient ratios range from 1:5 to 1:6.

Requirements

• Active RN License
• BLS Certification Required
• Minimum 2+ years of recent Medical-Surgical experience
• Recent Epic EMR experience within the last 12 months
• Experience with:
  • Phlebotomy
  • IV insertion and maintenance
• Float required
• Accredited nursing degree through ACEN or CCNE required
