Overview Purpose:This role serves as a technical resource supporting Energy-as-a-Service (EaaS) projects, with a primary focus on HVAC system optimization, operational performance, and verification of energy savings outcomes. Projects are generally delivered across complex, multi-building and multi-campus portfolios within higher education and healthcare environments.The Commissioning Provider functions as an internal quality and performance resource, collaborating with engineering, construction, controls, and operations teams throughout design and execution. This position is responsible for ensuring that system design and sequences of operation are installed in alignment with project intent and support achievement of energy performance targets, while ensuring consistent delivery across large, complex, multi-site programs.Key responsibilities include commissioning planning and execution, performing design reviews, validating sequences of operation, coordinating functional performance testing, and identifying opportunities to improve system efficiency, reliability, and maintainability. The Commissioning Provider works closely with the retro-commissioning team, controls contractors, and design teams to optimize airside and waterside systems while supporting successful project turnover and long-term operational performance.This role requires technical expertise in HVAC systems, building automation systems, and energy conservation strategies, with the ability to analyze complex system interactions and drive issue resolution across multidisciplinary teams. The ideal candidate demonstrates knowledge of the commissioning process, energy optimization methodologies, and industry standard best practices, while maintaining a strong focus on execution quality, documentation, and continuous improvement. Responsibilities Duties & Responsibilities:Strong understanding of energy optimization and advanced sequences of operationParticipate in retro-commissioning and commissioning efforts on assigned projectsParticipate in design and submittal reviewsDevelop pre-functional checklists and functional performance testsAttends and/or leads construction and commissioning meetingsLead and execute functional testing as part of the acceptance of construction scopeDrive corrective actions when scope or performance gaps are identifiedInteract directly with the project team to ensure high quality, functional and optimized systems are deliveredWork with the team manager and Director to understand construction project resources and track project progress against established timelines and budgets.Perform and mentor team members on complex commissioning tasksStrong understanding of DDC controls and building automation softwareFamiliarity with commissioning softwareStrong communication and coordination skills Qualifications Required Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management or related filed or 4 years of experience in lieu of degree10+ years of experience in HVAC controls, design, energy management, or other related fieldsProficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel,PowerPoint)Strong scope management and scheduling skillsAbility to interact with owners, owner’s representatives, contractors, engineers and architects in a professional manner while effectively driving project outcomeStrong knowledge of commercial MEP equipment design and operationsPreferred Qualifications:Commissioning Certification from ACG, BCxA, ASHRAERegistered Engineering Intern (EI) certification or Professional Engineer (PE) LicensureCertified Energy Manager (CEM)Proficient with Bluebeam Studio and Revu softwareProficient with Cloud Based Commissioning Software PlatformsTravel Requirements:30-50% travel required for this positionPhysical Requirements & Work Environment:The following physical requirements and work environment characteristics are representative of those required to successfully perform the essential functions of this position.
