Maintenance Technician

The maintenance technician is responsible for maintenance of all campus facilities and grounds. The position requires creative problem solving with the ability to do a variety of tasks and have competence with the equipment and tools needed to complete those tasks. Duties will include general maintenance and preventative maintenance. Which includes grounds work, mowing and snow removal.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES:

• Daily work orders, projects, & PM maintenance tasks.
• Prioritize work order & complete them in a timely matter.
• Demonstrate commitment to quality & care in carrying out work assignments.
• Responsible for relaying to supervisor for any necessary items that are needed to complete assigned tasks.
• Reports to supervisor if any matter needs a vendor's participation.
• Ensures all building/floors have working lights & emergency lighting.
• Responsible for maintaining the work vehicles, tools and equipment.
• Work in all areas of BCU Facilities as needed.
• Ensures work activities are in compliance with all applicable safety regulations.
• Updates assigned work orders with pertinent information as needed.
• Performs assigned preventative maintenance and periodic inspections of university buildings & utilities as assigned by supervisor.
• Paint, remodel, refurbish areas as needed
• Repair, maintain/monitor all equipment and amenities
• Change of all filters for HVAC as required
• Prepare classrooms for incoming classes; remove or rearrange furniture for events or classes, as needed
• Maintain a safe and hospitable environment in all dormitories.
• On call maintenance for all facilities, 24/7
• Oversee maintenance for elevators, and other contracted work
• Maintain the exterior areas of campus grounds
• Performs other work-related duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Must be able to work flexible hours
• High school education or equivalent
• 1-3 years of working experience in facilities maintenance
• Basic understanding of electrical, plumbing, and carpentry
• Ability to work with minimal supervision
• Must be organized, detail oriented, self-motivated, and able to multi-task

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES, and ATTITUDES - KSAA's:

Knowledge of:

• Use and potential hazards of equipment being used;
• Tools and equipment commonly used in maintenance work;
• Basic carpentry, electrical, plumbing knowledge.
• lubricants, solvents, batteries, cleaning fluids, paints

Skill in:

• Using a computer to perform basic operations;
• Operating outdoor equipment such as snow plow truck, skid-steer loader and mowers
• Problem solving and performing a variety of tasks.

Ability to:

• Able to work and communicate effectively with diverse academic, cultural and ethnic backgrounds of college students and staff;
• Exercise considerable judgment and initiative;
• Follow protocols and escalate as needed;
• Understand and follow broad and complex instructions.
