Manufacturing Engineer

The Manufacturing Engineer is a professional responsible for planning, optimizing, and overseeing the processes that transform purchased component parts into finished products, bridging the gap between product design and production, ensuring that items are manufactured efficiently, cost-effectively, and to the highest quality standards.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Technical guidance of the assembly of products to the highest quality standards using approved manufacturing procedures.
  • Perform in-process inspection of materials to assure conformance with specifications.
  • Assist in the development of processes to improve product quality and production efficiency.
  • Work in a cooperative and communicative manner to meet individual and company objectives and to maximize productivity and efficiency.
  • Test products or subassemblies for functionality or quality.
  • Troubleshoot problems with equipment, devices, or products. Basic tooling design as needed for assemblies and sub-assemblies to increase efficiency.
  • Monitor and adjust production processes or equipment for quality and productivity.
  • Set up and operate production equipment in accordance with current good manufacturing practices and standard operating procedures.
  • Assist engineers in developing, building, or testing prototypes or new products, processes, or procedures.
  • Calibrate or adjust equipment to ensure quality production, using tools such as calipers, micrometers, height gauges, protractors, or ring gauges.
  • Keep production logs. Measure and record data associated with operating equipment.
  • Maintain manufacturing systems.
  • Prepare production documents, such as standard operating procedures, work orders manufacturing batch records, inventory reports, or productivity reports, work instructions, inspection plans, corrective actions, non-conformance reports etc.
  • Set up and verify the functionality of equipment.
  • Evaluate and work with Engineering on root causes for returned product.
  • Adhere to all applicable regulations, policies (ISO and Employee), and procedures for health, safety, and environmental compliance.
  • Provide advice or training to other technicians.
  • Report problems with quality, processes, equipment and materials to Production Supervisor, Team Lead or Department Leader.
  • Observe all Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) rules and practice safe work habits; report unsafe conditions to Department Leader or other appropriate personnel.

Qualifications:

  • Associate's degree or Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Industrial Engineering with a minimum of 1 year direct experience in a manufacturing company.
  • In lieu of degree, 3 to 5 years' direct experience in a Manufacturing Engineering capacity is required.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude, 3D CAD proficiency (e.g. SolidWorks), data analysis, and project management.
  • Ability to lift, push or pull up to 30 lbs and to stand for long periods of time.
  • Ability and willingness to work overtime and weekends as required by production demands
  • Quality systems understanding, specifically ISO 9001:2015.
  • Willingness to multi-task, wear multiple hats, and have flexibility with assigned responsibilities.
  • Candidate must be an energetic, team player, self-starter with uncompromising ethical character.

Compensation: $70,000-$85,000
