This position will drive the growth and development of our water resources practice. The position’s primary focus will be Northern California but will also include opportunities to grow the practice in the surrounding region, and across the United States as appropriate.As an employee-owned, global leader in building critical infrastructure in the energy, water, and government services markets, Black & Veatch has a long-standing reputation for providing world-class service to our clients.The TeamWithin our U.S. planning and water resources business, we have seen consistent growth driven by our clients’ needs to address challenges stemming from stormwater regulations, flooding, water quality impairments driven by wet weather runoff, asset management, and efforts to increase the use of green infrastructure. We anticipate an increased focus on integrated stormwater planning and holistic watershed management as State and Federal agencies emphasize controlling stormwater, non-point source pollution, and TMDL enforcement. This represents a strategic business initiative for Black & Veatch, and the Water Resources position focused on stormwater, watersheds, and integrated planning is designed to help the company grow its market share by providing world-class planning and water resource services.Key ResponsibilitiesLead the pursuit and execution of water resources projects for services including the following:Planning, modeling and/or design of stormwater improvements, including open channels, storm or combined sewer systems, and stormwater detention/retention facilitiesPlanning and/or design of green infrastructure and sustainable watershed measures, including structural BMPsPlanning and/or design of flood mitigation improvements, including dams, levees, reservoirs, and pump stationsErosion and sediment control planning and design, including SWPPP developmentRegulatory compliance and permitting efforts for USACE, FEMA, and other environmental permit submittalsProvide business development leadership to identify and capture the above servicesBuild client relationships throughout the target geography to drive growth of the businessLead the execution of the services listed above and act as Project ManagerInterface with innovative stormwater, water quality, and planning partners to leverage new technologies and approaches for the benefit of our clientsProvide technical mentorship to professionalsIdentify, recruit, and supervise earlier-career professionalsSupport the development and growth of the larger Planning business by identifying and supporting watersupply, water and wastewater masterplan, asset management, and condition assessment opportunitiesPreferred Qualifications11+ years of water resources planning, stormwater permitting, and design experienceExperience developing and executing water resource planning and design projectsExperience and knowledge of regulatory requirements and NPDES Permitting for Municipal, Construction, andIndustrial sectorsExperience driving client-facing/business development efforts including tracking and responding to RFP/QsMinimum QualificationsRequires a bachelor's degree in engineering from either a recognized accredited program in their home country or the country in which the professional is practicing.Minimum of 11 years related work experience.CertificationsProfessional Engineer (P.E.), California preferred but not mandatory.Work Environment/Physical DemandsHybrid or flexible work options may be offered after the first 90 days of employment based upon managerdiscretion, job performance and work assignments.Salary PlanENS: Eng & Technical SpecialtiesJob Grade017Black & Veatch endeavors to make accessible to any and all users.
