Join us to do the best work of your career and make a profound impact as Postgres Database Engineer on our growing and dynamic team in Round Rock, Texas.What you’ll achieveAs a Postgres Database Engineer, you will architect Dell's global PostgreSQL platform strategy and build the autonomous tooling that enables self-healing database operations across thousands of instances. You will work with global database engineering pods to define Kubernetes-native deployment standards, mentor database engineers, and represent Postgres platform requirements in executive planning and vendor negotiations.You will:Architect and lead PostgreSQL platform strategy across Dell's global fleet - HA design, disaster recovery, security hardening, and performance baselines for thousands of instancesDesign and implement Postgres-on-Kubernetes at scale using operators (CloudNativePG/Patroni), storage architecture, multi-region failover, and observability integrationBuild agentic/autonomous tooling for self-healing failover, automated VACUUM/analyze scheduling, and predictive capacity alerts using LLM-augmented logicAuthor Infrastructure-as-Code modules (Ansible)Mentor engineers through weekly architecture reviews and represent Postgres requirements planning and vendor negotiationsTake the first step towards your dream careerEvery Dell Technologies team member brings something unique to the table. Here’s what we are looking for with this role:Essential Requirements10–14 years of IT infrastructure or platform engineering experience, or 7+ years with exceptional depth demonstrated through production scale, open-source contributions, or published work6+ years of production PostgreSQL at scale - partitioning, logical replication, connection pooling (PgBouncer), WAL tuning, Patroni, pgBackRest3+ years of Kubernetes for stateful workloads — operators, persistent storage design, backup/restore in K8s, multi-cluster patterns3+ years building automation frameworks in Python, Go, or Bash - authoring infrastructure, not just using playbooksProven track record of designing and developing Database as a serviceDesirable RequirementspgVector production experience with high-dimension embedding workloads (RAG, semantic search)Agentic coding or LLM-augmented operations - self-healing scripts, natural-language-to-query interfaces, or autonomous remediationContributions to PostgreSQL ecosystem open-source projects (patches, extensions, operators, or tooling)Full timePosting Date: 2026-08-26
