In the role of TeamCaptain – Sport &Outdoor , you will coach teammates, drive sales performance, and ensure athletes find the right gear for their sport. Job Duties & Responsibilities Deliver outstanding athlete experiences by anticipating athlete needs and providing clear, accurate, and knowledgeable information about products and assortment. Uphold company merchandising and presentation standards by following established floor sets, signage requirements, price changes, inventory presentation, replenishment standards, etc. Promote and lead company programs such as customer loyalty program participation, warranty sales, and private label credit card enrollment. Collaborate with the SM and ASM to develop 30‑60‑90 day plans that support business priorities for assigned departments. Help establish working plans related to operational initiatives, staffing, hiring needs, and merchandising sets in accordance with established budgets and financial goals. Execute plans and adjust as needed using independent judgment and analysis of plan effectiveness. When solely responsible for building, act as Head Coach and perform general store oversight, including opening and closing procedures, Front End and Cash Office functions, teammate supervision, etc. Communicate departmental goals and plans to direct reports daily or weekly and assign workload based on skill levels to maximize efficiencies. Monitor progress against plans and adjust store goals to ensure uninterrupted operations and athlete support while meeting payroll and financial objectives. Develop effective schedules for direct reports and adjust based on athlete traffic demands and operational initiatives. Build and lead a strong, effective team that delivers positive athlete experiences. Lead sourcing, interviewing, hiring, onboarding, and retaining a sufficient number of direct reports. Ensure teammates are properly trained and provide coaching, feedback, development, recognition, and motivation. Handle performance management, including annual reviews and promotional recommendations, and hold teammates accountable for compliance with policies and procedures, including termination recommendations. Foster a store environment where teammates and athletes are always welcome and treated with respect. Adhere to and enforce established policies and procedures related to safety, loss prevention, standard operating procedures, and relevant laws or governing entity guidelines.
