RN - PICU

Cardiac Pediatric Intensive Care Unit Registered Nurse

This is a 13-week contract position with a night shift schedule consisting of three 12-hour shifts from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM.

The Cardiac Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (CPICU) Registered Nurse will provide specialized nursing care to pediatric patients with congenital heart disease and related conditions. The CPICU is a 29-bed award-winning unit, recognized as a referral center for pediatric cardiac surgery and complex cardiac care in South Carolina.

Responsibilities:

• Provide 1:1 or 1:2 patient care based on acuity.
• Administer medications and perform procedures associated with cardiac care.
• Monitor patient status through hemodynamic monitoring and other critical care methodologies.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement care plans.
• Participate in pediatric palliative care as needed.
• Assist in training and orientation for newly hired staff and travelers on unit protocols.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure:

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in Pediatric Cardiac ICU.
• Valid RN license in South Carolina or compact state.
• Current certifications in BLS and PALS from the American Heart Association.
• Experience in caring for patients with Ventricular Assist Devices (VAD) is preferred.
• Must be able to meet weekend shift requirements, totaling 4 weekend shifts in a 4-week schedule.
