Position Details

Shift: Night 3x12-Hour (19:00 - 07:00); Day 3x12-Hour (07:00 - 19:00)

Start Dates: November 9 or December 7 (November preferred)

Duration: 13 weeks

Variable Shift Requirements: Days/Nights

Holiday Requirements: Must be willing to work 2 of the following 3 holidays (including Eves): Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's. Note: No Christmas Day or Eve requests will be accommodated.

Job Requirements

• Years of Experience Required: 2 years
• First-Timers Accepted: Yes, if strong experience is evident
• Weekend Requirement: 6 weekend shifts per 4-week schedule (combination of Fri/Sat nights for night shift and Sat/Sun for day shift)
• Certifications Required: BLS, PALS
• On-Call Requirement: No
• Floating Requirement: Yes, within scope to meet facility needs
• Block Schedule Accommodation: No
• Local Candidates: Not accepted (candidates living within 50 miles of the facility are considered local)
• Pending License Accepted: Yes, with an ETA for when the license will post

Special Requirements

• California license required
• 2 years of CVPICU experience leading up to assignment (recent)
• Peds cardiac experience - must be cardiac trained
• Heart transplant experience preferred
• Willing to float between units
• Experience in ventilators, multiple monitors, and EKG interpretation

Unit Details

• Patient Age Groups: Neonates, Infants, Pediatrics, Adolescents
• Daily Census: 30 patients
• Patient Ratios: 1:1-2 during the day and 1:3 at night
• Unit Focus: High acuity unit caring for post-op cardiac surgical patients, congenital heart issues, and heart transplants
• 60% of patients are infants, with the remaining 40% ranging from toddlers to young adults
• Previous pediatric cardiac intensive care experience required
• Variable 12-hour shift option includes both days and nights

Special Equipment & Skills

• End-Tidal CO2 monitoring
• Administration of blood & blood products
• Care of Ventilated Patients
• Central Line/Implanted Line Care
• Pediatric Dosage Calculations
• ECMO experience preferred
• Strong cardiac skills required
