Forklift Operator

This role focuses on safely operating a forklift to support shipping, receiving, and material handling activities while ensuring products are accurately packaged, inspected for quality, and prepared for on-time shipment. The forklift operator also tracks production output and inventory, uses basic math and reading skills to follow documentation, and collaborates with technicians and team members to maintain efficient warehouse and production operations.

Responsibilities

• Operate a sit-down forklift to move materials, load and unload products, and support shipping and receiving activities.
• Pack finished slides and products into boxes in preparation for shipment to customers, ensuring proper labeling and documentation.
• Track daily production output, product quality, and scrapped parts, and communicate this information clearly to Roto Technicians.
• Conduct inventory counts on parts and materials to maintain accurate stock levels.
• Use an RF scanner and follow bills of materials to pick, stage, and verify orders accurately.
• Perform material handling tasks such as loading, unloading, and order picking in a safe and efficient manner.
• Conduct basic quality inspections on products to identify defects and ensure they meet quality standards before shipping.
• Follow packaging and quality control procedures to minimize errors and reduce scrap.
• Apply simple math skills to verify quantities, counts, and measurements as needed for shipping and inventory tasks.
• Read and interpret inventory documents, bills of materials, and other written instructions to complete work accurately.
• Collaborate with team members and technicians to support smooth workflow and resolve issues related to inventory, quality, or production.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area, following all safety guidelines and equipment handling procedures.

Essential Skills

• Proven experience operating a sit-down forklift in a warehouse, production, or shipping and receiving environment.
• Hands-on experience with material handling, including loading, unloading, and moving products safely.
• Ability to perform packaging tasks, including boxing products and preparing them for shipment.
• Experience in shipping and receiving operations, including order picking and staging.
• Ability to use an RF scanner for inventory management and order processing.
• Capability to read and understand inventory documents, bills of materials, and written work instructions.
• Basic math skills to perform simple calculations, counts, and quantity checks.
• Experience with quality control and inspection of products to ensure they meet standards.
• Attention to detail and accuracy when tracking production output, product quality, and scrapped parts.
• Ability to communicate production and quality information clearly to technicians and team members.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Previous experience in a packaging or warehouse environment.
• Familiarity with inventory control processes and cycle counting.
• Comfort working in a fast-paced production or distribution setting.
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities.

Work Environment

This position is based in a warehouse and production environment where you will regularly operate a sit-down forklift and handle materials for shipping and receiving. You will work around packaging equipment, pallets, and inventory storage areas, frequently using RF scanners and referencing bills of materials and inventory documents. The role involves standing, walking, lifting, and moving products as part of daily tasks, and requires adherence to safety procedures and proper use of material handling equipment. Work hours typically follow a standard shift schedule appropriate for warehouse and production operations, with expectations for reliability and punctuality. Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Portland, TN.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $19.00/hr.
