Student Success Program (SSP) Ambassador

Student Employment Eligibility Current student at Berklee College of Music or Boston Conservatory at Berklee. Enrolled at least half‑time in a degree, diploma, or certificate‑seeking undergraduate or graduate program. Summer is the only semester in which a student can maintain employment without being enrolled. In this case, the student must be pre‑registered for the upcoming fall semester. This exception does not apply to fall or spring semesters. Have a valid United States Social Security Number (SSN). Remain in “valid” Visa status as applicable. A minimum 2.0 cumulative GPA. Students in their first semester can work, even though they do not have an official GPA until the completion of their first semester. Federal Work Study student may apply. In good disciplinary standing. Must be located in the U.S. Ambassador Program Overview Student Success Program (SSP) Ambassadors are student leaders who partner with faculty and staff to create a welcoming, engaging, and supportive community for the Berklee Scholars Program and RISE First‑Generation participants. As peer mentors, facilitators, and community builders, Ambassadors help students navigate their transition to Berklee while fostering belonging, artistic exploration, and meaningful connections. Ambassadors serve throughout Pre‑Orientation and the academic year, supporting the student community through mentorship, programming, and leadership development. Leadership Philosophy Leadership within Student Success Programs (SSP) supporting both the Berklee Scholars Program and the RISE First‑Generation Program is grounded in service, curiosity, and community. SSP Ambassadors develop the competencies to foster student success and strengthen the Berklee community through five core pillars: Community Building, Peer Mentorship, Group Facilitation, Student Success, and Professionalism. Required Skills and Knowledge Peer Mentoring - Conduct group mentor meetings with assigned BSP and RISE students, assess student needs, help them develop short‑ and long‑term goal plans, document all mentorship sessions via the Interaction Report Form, and serve as a liaison between students and SSP. Teaching Assistantship & Facilitation - Serve as a TA for academic, co‑curricular, and leadership sessions; assist staff and faculty with syllabus planning, course content, and logistics; facilitate group discussions and workshops while honoring diverse engagement styles. Events Support - Support Pre‑Orientation (Aug15‑22) and National First‑Generation Celebration Week (Nov2‑6), as well as year‑round programming; assist with logistics (setup, teardown, check‑in, and AV support); represent SSP at orientation, receptions, workshops, and panels; oversee attendee needs during events. Content Creation & Social Media - Create promotional copy, photos, videos, and templates using basic AV equipment; collaborate with Program Managers to execute semester‑long social media plans; manage live engagement and cross‑promo of events. Administration & Outreach - Participate in community outreach and student engagement; run errands to support daily operations; perform duties as assigned by SSP Managers. What Ambassadors Gain The SSP Ambassador program equips students to grow as leaders, mentors, artists, and members of the Berklee community. Through training, mentorship, and hands‑on experience, Ambassadors develop skills that demonstrate leadership, communication, facilitation, and ethical professionalism in academic, artistic, and professional settings. Eligibility and Qualifications To be eligible for the Ambassador position, students must: Meet Berklee’s Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) standards. Hold a minimum of 3.0 GPA at the time of application. Be familiar with software such as Canva, Adobe Express, Instagram, CapCut, Google Suite, Slack, Zoom, and Asana. Preferred Skills Content creation: Canva, Adobe Express, Instagram, CapCut. General office: Google Suite, Slack, Zoom, Asana. Strong campus knowledge; reliable, adaptable, approachable, and clear communication. Hourly Rate Student Worker $17.51 per hour.
