Summary:

This role would be someone who has knowledge of the Freight Utility role, but with some added duties. The schedule would be from 8-5, M-F and the pay would be a range of $18 - $20 based on experience

POSITION PURPOSE :

The Shipping & Logistics Lead is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the LTL outbound department while providing support to warehouse supervisors and managers. This role ensures the accuracy and efficiency of outbound freight activities by maintaining shipment records, coordinating with carriers and customers, and facilitating timely and precise pickups. Through effective coordination and attention to detail, the Shipping & Logistics Lead enhances operational efficiency, supports customer satisfaction, and contributes to the overall success

Duties:

• Coordinate LTL, truckload, and expedited shipments (inbound and outbound) using our ERPs Acumatica and the Transportation Management System (TMS).
• Provide timely and accurate LTL freight quotes to customers and the sales department via phone and email
• Develop and maintain a book of business by generating leads, prospecting new carriers, and growing existing accounts.
• Source, qualify, and onboard reputable carriers to cover customer freight at competitive rates.
• Negotiate pricing and contracts with shippers and carriers to maximize margin while providing market‐competitive service.
• Book loads, schedule pickups and deliveries, and coordinate daily with carriers and drivers.
• Track and trace shipments, provide proactive status updates, and resolve in‐transit issues or service failures.
• Maintain accurate shipment, rate, and communication records in the TMS/CRM.
• Stay current on freight markets, lanes, and capacity trends to advise customers and price freight effectively.
• Process production orders for truck shipments in accordance with specified shipping lead times.
• Troubleshoot and develop effective solutions for complex delivery locations and time-sensitive shipments.
• Assist with carrier freight bill audits to ensure accuracy and cost control.
• Process freight claims and support claim resolution as needed.
• Support parcel shipment quoting and carrier invoice auditing.
• Enter international orders into online systems as required.
• Provide support to the LTL Office and OS&D (Overages, Shortages & Damages) Freight positions as needed.
• Assist with special projects and departmental initiatives as assigned.
