Senior HR Generalist
CenCore
Description CenCore is seeking a Senior HR Generalist to provide full-cycle human resources support across the employee lifecycle. This role is ideal for an experienced HR professional who brings broad generalist expertise, sound judgment, and the confidence to advise employees, managers, and leadership across a wide range of HR functions, including employee relations, recruiting support, onboarding, compliance, performance management, benefits coordination, HRIS administration, and process improvement. The ideal candidate will have at least three years of progressive HR experience and the ability to operate as a trusted HR partner in a hands-on, high-visibility role. Key Responsibilities
- Full-Cycle HR Support: Serve as a senior-level HR resource for employees and managers, supporting day-to-day HR operations while helping drive consistent, compliant, and people-focused practices across the organization.
- Talent Acquisition and Workforce Support: Partner with hiring managers and recruiting teams to support job postings, candidate flow, interview coordination, selection processes, and workforce planning needs.
- Employee Relations: Advise employees and managers on HR policies, workplace concerns, documentation, performance issues, conflict resolution, and employee relations matters with professionalism, neutrality, and discretion.
- Onboarding, Offboarding, and Employee Lifecycle Administration: Coordinate onboarding, employee changes, offboarding, exit processes, records updates, and related documentation to ensure a consistent and compliant employee experience.
- Performance Management: Support performance review processes, coaching conversations, corrective action documentation, employee development planning, and manager guidance related to performance expectations.
- Benefits, Leave, and HR Program Support: Assist with benefits administration, leave coordination, employee questions, policy interpretation, and communication of HR programs in partnership with internal stakeholders.
- Compliance and Policy Administration: Help maintain compliance with applicable federal, state, and local employment laws, company policies, internal procedures, recordkeeping standards, and audit requirements.
- HRIS, Data, and Reporting: Maintain accurate HRIS records, support data integrity, prepare reports, track HR metrics, and use workforce data to identify trends and recommend practical improvements.
- HR Projects and Process Improvement: Lead or support HR initiatives, policy updates, workflow improvements, system improvements, and cross-functional projects that strengthen HR operations and organizational effectiveness.
- Employee Experience and Culture: Promote a respectful, professional, and mission-focused workplace culture through responsive HR support, clear communication, and consistent application of policies and practices.
- Other Duties: Perform other related duties as assigned to support overall HR and business needs.
- U.S. Citizenship required; must provide a valid U.S. Passport Book or Passport Card.
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field preferred;
- Equivalent combination of education and progressive HR experience may be considered.
- Professional HR certification such as SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, or SPHR preferred.
- Minimum of 3 years of progressive human resources experience required, with demonstrated ability to support a broad range of HR functions rather than a single specialized area.
- Experience operating at a senior generalist level, including advising managers, handling sensitive employee matters, and making practical HR recommendations with limited supervision.
- Working knowledge of employee relations, recruiting support, onboarding, performance management, benefits administration, leave coordination, HRIS data, compliance, and employment law fundamentals.
- Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills with the ability to build trust with employees, managers, and leadership.
- Proficiency with HRIS platforms, Microsoft Office Suite, reporting tools, and HR documentation practices.
- High degree of professionalism, discretion, and integrity in handling confidential and sensitive information.
- Ability to balance hands-on HR administration with higher-level guidance, problem solving, and partnership with leadership.
- Strategic Thinking and Problem Solving
- Relationship Building and Teamwork
- Adaptability and Change Management
- Analytical and Critical Thinking
- Attention to Detail
- Customer Service Orientation
- Results-Driven Mindset
- Timely and accurate completion of HR transactions, employee changes, onboarding, offboarding, and documentation

- Compliance with internal policies, employment law requirements, recordkeeping standards, and audit expectations
- Accuracy and integrity of HRIS data, reports, personnel records, and related HR documentation
- Successful completion of HR projects, process improvements, and cross-functional initiatives
- Positive employee experience outcomes supported by clear communication, professionalism, and consistent HR partnership
- Competitive compensation, bonus eligibility, and a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, vision, retirement plans, paid time off, and employee wellness programs.
- Primarily on-site office environment supporting employees, managers, and HR operations in a mission-focused setting.
- Occasional travel to other company locations and/or external training or professional development events may be required.
- Flexible scheduling and reasonable accommodations provided in accordance with company policy.
- Ability to remain in a stationary position for extended periods.
- Occasional lifting of materials up to 25 pounds.
- Regular use of standard office equipment, including computers and phones.
- Interested candidates should submit a resume/CV and cover letter through the company's application portal.
