Every day, our community of students, families, teachers and staff comes together to learn, work, and play in an environment grounded in our values of Bienestar (Well-Being), Culture of Belonging, Community Partnership, Agency & Self-Determination, and Joy.JOB SUMMARY The Campus Monitor observes and supports students during lunch and passing breaks to ensure a safe, secure and comfortable environment conducive to student interaction and learning.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform these essential functions Ongoing ActivitiesSupervise students during lunch/recess and passing periods, including enforcing school rules school boundaries, and school behavior expectationsEnsure a safe environment in the lunchroom, school grounds and parking lotWork with other school staff to ensure sufficient level of supervision coverage in all areas of the lunch room, school yards and parking lotHelp mediate and resolve conflicts between studentsAdminister first aid as neededManage computer logs and complete accident reportsHelp keep the campus cleanIdentify any major security or safety hazards and major repair needs in the recess area and ensure safety rules are followedAdditional:Demonstrate knowledge of, and support, the Aspire Public Schools mission, vision, value statements including antiracism, policies and procedures, operating instructions, confidentiality standards, and the code of ethical behaviorPerform other related duties as required and assignedQUALIFICATIONSGood verbal and written communication skillsGood problem solving ability; sound judgmentAbility to interact appropriately with children of all agesBilingual - Spanish and English (strongly preferred).Computer skillsHigh school diploma or equivalentFirst Aid and valid CPR training1+ years experience observing and supervising K-12 students preferredOngoing behavior management and de-escalation trainingStand, walk or bend over, kneel, crouch, reach overhead, grasp, push, and pull. Move, lift and/or carry up to 30 pounds to shoulder heightRepetitive use of hands (i.e. fine manipulation, simple grasping, and power grasping)Demonstrate normal depth perceptionSitting, walking or standing for extended periods of timeDexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard, operate standard office equipment, and use a telephoneSee and read a computer screen and printed matter with or without vision aidsHear and understand speech at normal levels and on the telephone with or without auditory aidesClear the Department of Justice background screeningAuthorized to work in the United StatesProvide health (TB) clearance (most update every four years)WORK ENVIRONMENT The work environment characteristics are representative of those in a normal office, classroom/school setting which one might encounter while performing the essential functions of this job.
